“I’m putting people on notice that are coming here from Syria as part of this mass migration, that if I win, they’re going back.”
~ Donald Trump
“Texas will not accept any refugees from Syria.”
~ Governor Greg Abbott,
“They arrive sick and starving and therefore less capable of contributing to the American economy, and unable to adapt to American culture.”
~ Sen. David Reed, R – Pa., in 1924, referring to legislation enacted by congress to block Jewish Refugees from entering the U.S.
As Christian “activists” pretend to be offended and persecuted by Starbuck’s “War on Christmas” and Republican lawmakers and presidential candidates continue to stretch facts and sell fear and scream about the dangers of helping refugees on the run from ISIS, we thought we’d take a very quick look at what Jesus might do in this situation, according to the Bible.
“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”
Matthew 7:12
“Sell your possessions, and give to the needy.”
Luke 12:33
(Mr. Trump?)
“Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Psalm 82:3-4
(One would assume that this would apply to the victims of the Islamic State)
“When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”
Leviticus 19:33
“And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”
Matthew 18:5
“If a corporation shall create a disposable cup for the holiday season and not place upon it pretty pictures of snowmen and reindeer, but instead shall color it red, thou shalt be greatly offended and grievously wronged.”
The first five quotes were taken from your holy book. The last one? Shocking, I know, but we just made that one up. Some of you really need to get your fucking priorities straight.
And if you are still so terrified of ISIS that you would turn your back on the tenets of your own faith, perhaps this statement from a member of your flock will help calm your trembling hands:
“Those who come to the United States have gone through a very thorough vetting process…with various departments of the government – the FBI, the National Counterterrorism Center – so these are not just random people showing up who we don’t know who they are.” – Matthew Soerens, U.S. Church Training Specialist at World Relief
One final note… There is at least one politician and candidate who sounded somewhat Christ-like in his statements regarding Syrian refugees on the run from the brutal IS regime:
“What terrorism is about is trying to instill terror and fear into the hearts of people. And we will not let that happen. We will not be terrorized or live in fear. We will not turn our backs on the refugees who are fleeing Syria and Afghanistan. We will do what we do best and that is be Americans – fighting racism, fighting xenophobia, fighting fear.”
~ Bernie “Not Particularly Religious” Sanders
Of course, Sanders isn’t an Evangelical Christian. He’s Jewish… Like Jesus.

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses, yearning to breath free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door.
Author: Nick A. is just a banged-up Army Infantry vet of the War in Iraq. He lives in Austin, TX with his family and two big, dumb, ugly mongrel dogs. Don’t take anything he says too seriously… he’s just trying to figure out this ride we call existence like everyone else. Also, he enjoys writing his own bio in third-person because it probably makes him feel more important.
Syrian’s are plotting to kill Americans. What would Jesus do? John 7:1 says, “Jesus later traveled throughout Galilee. He didn’t want to travel in Judea because Jews there wanted to kill him.”

Actually, anonymous, ISIS (not “Syrians”) are plotting to kill other Muslims who don’t practice Islam the way that they do. This is a truly great read (lengthy, but very informative) if you’d like to read a little more on this topic: http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/03/what-isis-really-wants/384980/

they didn’t try to kill Muslims in Paris they just killed innocent citizens so how do we know they wouldn’t do the same if they were shipped to America? And Isis members could be hide among the refugees and we would have no idea.

Right. If you read that link, it talks about attacks on Westerners. Some of these attackers had tried to get to Syria to join ISIS so they could be part of what they believe will be a final apocalyptic showdown. But they were forbidden to travel because they were flagged. So they took out their frustrations on Westerners to show ISIS that they were devoted to the cause. Take some time to read that link. It really is quite good.

Sharon, don’t be so naïve. This is exactly what Paris said before they were attacked.

Much easier for a terrorist to just hop a flight to Canada and drive over than go through the asylum process.
